We both bear the name Gregory.
We're both Roman Catholics.
We're both His servants in our different vocatio(s).
But that's where all similarities end ~
He was elected Bishop of Rome at the age of 50. I was "dragged" into the Altar Servers at the age of 8.
He's a Saint. I'm not - yet? =p
It was thanks to those who wished me a "Happy Feast Day", (only to be reciprocated with looks of confusion & simply "huh(s)?") did I then realize it was the feast of my 'other' patron saint.
After some brief study & researh, I stumbled upon a quote from St. Gregory. And I guess that quote poses a challenge to us. I suppose St. Francis of Assisi (my 'other' patron saint) lived up to that challenge:
"Perhaps it is not after all so difficult for a man to part with his possessions, but it is certainly most difficult for him to part with himself. To renounce what one has is a minor thing; but to renounce what one is, that is asking a lot"
This day is dedicated to all who bears the name 'Gregory' =p
